The Black Sea Ophthalmological Society (BSOS) was founded in 2002 as an organization of the ophthalmologists of the Black Sea region with the mission of increasing the communication and exchange of knowledge between the members. Member countries are: Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. Azerbaijan, Armenia and Greece are associate members.
- IDEA: To form a society of ophthalmologists from countries around the Black Sea
- MISSION: To be a society for exchanging ideas, knowledge and experience
- VISION: To be an internationally recognized society with regular meetings and exchange of students (As of November 2013 BSOS is a member of ICO -International Council of Ophthalmology)
